Autobot OOC Meeting August 31, 2008 Announcement: Rodimus Prime shouts, "The Autobot OOC Meeting is commencing. If you'd like to participate, please come to the Meeting Room. Thank you!" Raindance says, "It has come to my attention that quite a number of players are running around doing... lets say 'unsavoury' rp. Now this is a PG mush and the official line is BAD BAD BAD, but personally as long as it is kept private, I don't care (cover your ears Airwolf!) Guest waves You say, "Hey Guest." Sideswipe is surprisingly innocent. Perceptor has disconnected. You say, "Yeah, I was going to do that. :)" ---

  • Autobot OOC Meeting August 31, 2008 Announcement: Rodimus Prime shouts, "The Autobot OOC Meeting is commencing. If you'd like to participate, please come to the Meeting Room. Thank you!" Raindance says, "It has come to my attention that quite a number of players are running around doing... lets say 'unsavoury' rp. Now this is a PG mush and the official line is BAD BAD BAD, but personally as long as it is kept private, I don't care (cover your ears Airwolf!) HOWEVER I would like people to note that +pot/last keeps your last pose on you no matter where it happened. So to spare blushes, remember to look at +help +pot and learn the +pot/privacy command" Guest waves You say, "Hey Guest." Sideswipe is surprisingly innocent. You say, "Okay, we'll get started then. I assume there'll be some stragglers, but that's not really a big problem. I've been asked to log this meeting and post it on the wiki, so I will -- just wanted to let everyone know we're on the record here." Perceptor is gonna catch the log later. I'm glazing and dozing as it is. Catch ya guys later. Perceptor has disconnected. You say, "I generally prefer more informal meeting style -- I'll guide the topic, but feel free to pipe up if you'd like to speak. If it gets out of hand, we can go to a more formal speaking order. I'll make that call if need be." You say, "So, I'll open things up to whatever's on your minds at the moment, but there a few issues of business I'd like to get out of way." Keeper returns and doesn't have to a huntin winnebego afterall. You say, "First off, what's up with me: I'm back at school and pretty much settled in. I have a regular routine and MUSHing is a part of that. I haven't really set any RP 'office hours' per se, but keep in mind I'm in Pacific Time so I'm three hours before Eastern players. I have class until 8:45 PM on Tuesday-Thursday, so that usually makes it too late for me to be around." You say, "I hope you've noticed me around a bit more than I was in Europe and that should continue indefinitely, at least through the rest of this semester." You say, "Okay, so now for something that I really need your input on. You might have noticed that there has been RP relating to refurbishing the Ark and making it a useable base again. What I'd like to do in the post-NCC, post-Argosy situation here on Earth is to have the Autobots have more of a global presence rather than a USA-centric one. I'd like to move Metroplex to Europe to change up the RP and move things along in that direction, with the Ark being our remaining base in the United States." You say, "Of course, this is a big change ICly and OOCly, and I didn't want to pull it off before running it by you guys." You say, "So, thoughts, re: Metroplex to Europe?" Raindance likes the idea of having metroplex in a different country in Europe each week and then everyone votes on their favourite :o You say, "Yeah, I was going to do that. :)" Defcon has no qualms with that. It's been in Cali far too long as is, and the Protectobot base is under construction as well. It's a nine-ten room base, so it's big enough to function as a temporary headquarters if need be. You say, "The Metroplex thing would be indefinite. If people don't like it, we can move back to California or wherever we'd like to -- just something that I'd like to try out." Sideswipe says, "That sounds pretty cool. How are we going to relocate big M though?" You say, "Metroplex was upgraded at some point so he can fly." Raindance says, "Metroplex can fly" Raindance says, "oh :(" Sideswipe says, "Sweet." Raindance says, "Does this mean we need some more country rooms for Europe then?" Raindance says, "Out of interest. I know we don't have an Iceland or a Norway" Hobo was just going to say that. The European grid is very lacking. Sideswipe says, "Russia's stil set up after the risktp, isn't it?" Impulse says, "There's also supposed to be the Ark refurbishment (though Whirligig has had RL issues for a while now, so not much has really been done there), so it's not like the EDC will be completely alone in that regard." You say, "I hadn't thought of that. We could ask for more -- I was just going to move through the rooms we did have." Hobo says, "A lot of the countries don't even have a country room, just a room representing a capital city." Sky Lynx says, "well, as Defcon stated. Protectobots are constructing a base in Eastern USA. The Ark is up North. Europe is fine, because it would place some pressure on the Decepticons, being so close and all. It might make some interesting rp, and perhaps the Autobots could construct a teleporter type device between Metro and the Ark/Protectobot base-- or all three bases.." Raindance says, "I know Whirli volunteered to be in charge of the Ark refurbishment, but do you think she'd mind if people went on with it in the meantime? I don't want to step on peoples toes, but it needs to be done at some point" You say, "Yeah, building up an inter-base spacebridge system or something could be some future RP for our tech types." Raindance says, "You mean more spacebridges, Sky?" Rodimus Prime is planning on finishing up the Ark refurbishment without her, yeah. Sky Lynx says, "Whirligig has been having major family issues, she hasn't even been on AIM much and is nearly impossible to get ahold of. I also have an alt that has been assisting." You say, "Part of the scene last night was to point out that we're still working on the Ark and it's almost done." Raindance says, "Yeah I heard Lynxy :(" Sideswipe says, "Is there a chance for some fictional countries to be tossed in like Carbombia?" You say, "ICly. OOCly, I need to write up some descs and possibly change the rooms around, and include base fixtures like Gumby Medics and such." Keeper says, "Latveria, a no entry zone unless you want to take 20 damage every 5 minutes you're there." Raindance says, "Haha" Guest says, "..." Keeper says, "Vic's place ain't for our kind." Guest says, "Who let Doom in here?" You say, "Carbombya is in the middle east. I don't know if it's on the grid or not, but we RP there every now and then." Raindance says, "But then it will bring back horrid memories of New Avengers / Transformers" Raindance says, "Carbombya is in the grid" Impulse has meant to, when I've not been investigating traitors (I blame you, DC!), checking out riddles (and kudos to Hobo for those riddles that he's done) and what-not, be having Impulse working on security arrangements for the Ark refurbishment -- much of that, however, can be assumed to be done off-camera. Raindance says, "Hobo is amazing" Keeper is stumped by the riddles. You say, "I haven't seen any of the Hobo riddles, I'm jealous." Jennifer says, "If Metroplex travels around, will the surrounding area travel as well?" Raindance says, "They are leading up to stuff me and Rod have been working on for ages, it isn't just random stuff. So take note of the little tape guy :v" Sky Lynx will have to move his little lair somewhere else now, ahha.. Hobo says, "Yes, more people need to pay attention or I will cry. :(" Jennifer says, "Such as *glances at Raindance* the landing pad?" Sky Lynx says, "though I suppose it be more proper in Europe." Impulse had to have help with two of them, but the last two I've picked up on, so I'm getting a bit better about it. And I pretty much know the answer overall, but I plan to get the last two riddles just to make sure. :) Sky Lynx says, "Hobo-- You are amazing! end of subject." Hobo has lost the logs of the last two, thanks to exploding computer. Lee-Zard has been trying to catalogue as much of the hobo-speek as I can, for Wiretap to analyze. You say, "The surrounding 'base bits' for Metroplex would probably be built in whatever country we decide to settle in." Keeper says, "traitor Lee-Zard!" You say, "Okay, so, it looks like everyone is down for MetroEuro. Awesome." Jennifer is, or rather, my alt, is very auto-city centric, while working on upgrades, lessons and general fixing. It's important that I can stay in the vicinity. Defcon is looking forward to driving on the wrong side of the road. You say, "Moving on... We have some really big, epic action TP's ahead that will involve lots of space travel and trying to save the entire universe. I don't want to get any more into it than that for spoiler reasons, but the Autobots will have a chance to be big badass cosmic heroes soon, so keep your eyes open for that." Raindance says, "You mean the RIGHT side of the road >:("" Quickswitch says, "I'm looking forward to the bratwurst and beer." Quickswitch says, "Actually, no." You say, "Just make sure your visa's in order, Jennifer." Jennifer says, "they only do that in Japan or Britain." Raindance says, "Wow Rod /if only we had a spaceship/" Sky Lynx says, "Oh rodimus, as for Timezones, your not the only west-coaster, so am I. So I can asure you, at 8:30-9, I am online your time, so if you do want someone to rp with, I am around. Just to let you know--" You say, "Cool Lynx, thanks." Rodimus Prime just notices the game is pretty dead when he shows up after class those days. :) Sky Lynx says, "Its because most are eastern. But sometimes I'm on, just depends on how tired I am after work, or if my grandmother didn't do something stupid(or my mother)." You say, "So, I'm working on finishing up our Ark base and getting our spaceship finished as Raindance pointed out, if you'd like to help write descs or anything like that, just give me a page. Crosscheck is building the ship so it's his baby, but hopefully we can all pitch in some way and get it done." You say, "I'm planning on letting the 'Ark II' ship be named by a +poll, so if you have ideas for a name (including Ark II), send them to me." Sky Lynx personally-- Likes Ark II Raindance likes Ark II :(Keeper nuh-uhs on Ark II Lee-Zard says, "Ark of the Covenant!" Quickswitch says, "Ark II is all right by me." Defcon likes A.S.S. Enterprise.... ...:(Jennifer wrinkles her nose. To Trekkie, no offense, though. Keeper says, "Ark II seems to sentimentally derivitive." Jennifer says, "Ark II is clear." Jennifer says, "Even newbies will know w what to expect. WEll, hopefully." Jennifer votes Ark II. Sky Lynx says, "That is what I was thinking. Ark II is clear. Its the Second Ark, its not the original Ark, but something a keen to the original ship and a somewhat salute to it." Sideswipe says, "Well this is still a long way down the pipe, we don't have to settle on one right now." Raindance says, "Yeah, we vote later" Sideswipe is a bit keen on Axalon anyway. Raindance says, "Oh ho ho can of worms" Jennifer says, "Assuming this big shake up, how will the EDC fit into all this?" Raindance doesn't see it as a big shakeup personally Jennifer says, "Axalon ws a Beast WArs ship. do we have Maximals?" Defcon says, "Axalon sounds like a great name, even if it was a BW ship. Anyhoo, the EDC is global right? If so, it shouldn't shake them up too much." Jennifer says, "The American EDC will report tot he ARk and vice versa?" Raindance says, "Yeah, they have a base in Germany too, Defcon" Keeper suggests The Witwicky :p Sideswipe says, "Why would edc reoport to the ark?" Defcon says, "Okay, Ark convo pretty much done. What's next?" Jennifer says, "Babes, I men that atm, folks at the EDC can visit Autobot City. like me for example, or and, etc." Jennifer says, "Or Andi, or Nate, etc." Keeper ... You say, "Sorry, I was getting some coffee started." You say, "So, we're done with the Ark convo -- Really, that's what I have on my agenda." You say, "We're open now for anything you guys would like to discuss." Jennifer says, "It's easier for us to mix and RP." Raindance has a question for people in general You say, "Go for it, Raindance." Defcon has one as well. Sky Lynx has one also, but it may get touched on. Raindance says, "It seems to me that TPwise, Decepticon players want to be freer to run stuff, but Autobot players want stuff to be more... structured, if that's a word. Is that something that needs to be taken into account?" Keeper says, "Elaborate." Defcon is unsure what Rain is speaking bout. Sky Lynx is also unsure. Quickswitch is equally unsure. Jennifer lets Rain elaborate. Raindance says, "Well its not a hard and fast rule (like, Hot Spot has been great with his plot) but if a Con wants to do something, you'll say 'yeah go and do it' and they'll do it, but often I'll find that an Autobot will want to do something and then sit on it for a while because they've not been ordered every step of the way. Obviously I don't want to name names or anything. But I would like to say that as much as we go for realism on this place, we also do appreciate initiative and going off and running things" Raindance says, "Does that make sense?" Raindance says, "I mean obviously its not true for everyone, its just a trend I've noticed" Sideswipe says, "Yeah I getchya. A good flow is good." Defcon basks in his glory...then gets back to topic. "Hrm, an example would be nice. Are you talking about social VS combat RP, such as Cons and Bots talking?" Sky Lynx says, "I would run allot of things, but my times online are rather here nor there. I'm never 100% sure when I can be on or when something will take place RL to get in my way. So I tend to be rather random in my rp, where I'll just say.. I have time now, I'm doing it now. Then again, I never been fond of TPs anyhow. I like rather spontinuousness." Keeper says, "it might be the nature the two factions stem from" Raindance says, "Yeah I was thinking that too" Jennifer says, "Some folks need a TP to follow though." Raindance says, "Rod, Galv and I have got something in motion that will allow Bots to be more proactive, so perhaps that will help stuff" Impulse says, "If my little plot in the making is a part of that, I'd originally planned to just go with it once I discussed things with Springer and had the Wreckers ready, but Rod did bring up something that I need to now try and track down DC for to debrief him again, before I can move with it -- if all else fails, I may just go ahead, drop DC a @mail, and RP it after the fact." Raindance says, "No, don't worry Impulse, its not you :)" Keeper says, "Bots are icly structured, cons have that touch of chaos. Cons can trust that if they want to go blow something up or make trouble for folks, then command will like that unless they've given previous orders not to bug such and such" Defcon says, "Yeah, it's usually Bots=Reactive and Cons=Proactive." Keeper says, "bots on the otherhand not only have to live by their own rules, but also the rules of other cultures to remain peaceful." Jennifer nods. Keeper says, "and building the ark 2 for example, we can't just go raid for parts, we have to take steps." Sky Lynx was tempted to just raid a decepticon base- Raindance says, "Yeah, oh definately. I mean, its a much harder way to kick stuff off" Jennifer says, "And they would react and fight." Keeper says, "be diplomatic, be businesslike, and be extra careful to get it done before it gets blown up :p" Raindance says, "Haha I was going to suggest that lynx :)" Sky Lynx says, "well I made a bbpost on it." Sky Lynx says, "So, I was planning some time this week to find who oocly be interested and then just-- go." Sky Lynx says, "the cons have done that enough times to us. |>" Raindance says, "I guess part of what I mean to say (and forgive me if it is a bit rambly) is do you want the Bots to be able to be more proactive?" Sky Lynx says, "yes" Raindance says, "Cos while I am for that I don't want to push what I think onto everyone else" Raindance says, "Rockin'" Keeper says, "Cons can feel more free becuase the villains drive the conflict" Sky Lynx says, "and my yes is because I play mostly military types, fighters. I only have have 2 tech types, and the other 3 are all military and one of them I'm trying to really bring around to being an interesting character." Defcon actually has a TP in the pipeline for 'Who hunts the huntsmen?' for Defcon to take the proactive stance. That and it seems the Wreckers and Impulse will be taking a tougher stance like that as well. Raindance says, "Yeah I'm all for encouraging stuff like that" You say, "Actually, part of the idea behind the Ark was to give Autobots a reason to be able to raid for parts from the Decepticons if they felt like it." Raindance says, "Anyway, that's my questions done with for he moment" Defcon prepares his spam. Quickswitch says, "Oh YES! The Autobots have a military too. Are we supposed to take it sitting down?" Keeper :hopes, speaking of raids, bots will come to junk rescue cause not enough junkion players to defend Junkion by the way. Impulse says, "Well, my plan is simple -- I'm wanting to tie up the loose end with the cerebro-shells, raid the facility on Cybertron where they're being built, and blow the place to hell. Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200. I wanted the Wreckers for that, but I think I want more as well. Perhaps a full-blown strike." You say, "So, while the Autobots obviously have to be the 'good guys', I won't come down on anyone who takes the initiative to attack the Decepticons, as long as you make sure you feel out that it's okay from an OOC point of view with the other players." You say, "Like -- no one-man assaults on their main base or something like that. ;)" Jennifer thanks. ^-^ Sky Lynx wouldn't do that anyhow. Sideswipe says, "Yeah... that's not smart." You say, "Unfortunately, it's happened before. Heh." Sideswipe says, "Or vice versa for Decepticons." Silverbolt says, "quite a few times....on both ends." Sky Lynx says, "example: Avalanche" You say, "Defcon -- go ahead with your question." Impulse would like to run that from more of a command perspective, but it depends on whether the Bot CoC plans to take the reins on that. Silverbolt says, "they hit the nail on the head." Raindance says, "Well that was part of a TP DC was running, Sky Lynx" Rodimus Prime nods. "We can if you want, Impulse. It's up to you." Raindance says, "Rather than the player going "SUIIIIIIIICIDE!" and rushing in" Keeper wonders where his OC intro tp counterparts have gotten to. Impulse says, "I planned initially to lead it, do the hacking once we blasted our way in, plant my little happy fun computer viruses and what not into the 'Con computer systems to mess with them, and then have someone of the demolition persuasion to utterly destroy the base. Something Impulse wants to see through." Jennifer would like the pizzeria on Alameda reinstated or rebuilt... Jennifer says, "..or something akin to it..." Rodimus Prime knows nothing about pizzerias on Alameda. Sounds like an EDC issue. ;) Raindance says, "Well, if you talk to Nate and want to run a 'pizzeria rebuilding plot', go for it" Jennifer isn't really that good at doing background tp stuff, but the 'owner' Marconelli is meant to be really steamed. TEchnically, JL is in a lot of bother. OR will b if something isn't done. I've got RL to organise, never mind IC. Sky Lynx waits on Defcon. "Overall, I am gravely dissapointed with the OOC and IC leadership of the Autobots as of late. This starts from the top and goes all the way to the bottom. The top of the chain, Rodimus and Ultra Magnus (I'm not including Kup and Jazz because they were just recently filled). The middle being COs and XOs of divisions. The bottom being the grunts and everyday bot. From the top, I see a great lack of orders being handed down. I realize it's possible for us to RP without them, but it doesn't seem realistic or right to do something without the backing of your commanding officer. During your time away Rod, I really felt the faction was aimless. I felt some sort of leadership should have been set up and followed through. I realize that UM didn't apply to lead the Bots, but when you apply for a second in command; I think it goes without saying that the call to lead falls to you when #1 is out of action for the time being." "Middle ground, COs and XOs, have done very little in the way of leading their divisions. I realize this is a broad statement, and doesn't encompass everyone; but it's still the feeling I get when there are no standing orders for military. Especially since the Con civil war was raging, and it would have been a prime (no pun intended) situation for us to gain somesort of advantage." "At the bottom, I've been somewhat dissapointed with backtalking and just general disrespect and disobeying of orders from superior officers. I realize a character doesn't have to take everything with a can-do attitude, but sometimes it graces the line of too much. I'd like to see that stop." Defcon said that.;) Defcon says, "I've got some suggestions to help, but I'd like to hear everyone elses thoughts first." Sideswipe ahems, "Should I be elected Vice Military Commander I promise to have many, many orders. Sideswipe says, "Five punches per second.. you decide." Silverbolt konks Sideswipe. Sky Lynx Defcon kinda took the words from him. Raindance says, "Well to me, a lot of this stems again from the proactive vs reactive things. While the Cons can have long term plans to conquer the world, the Bot's main job is to stop whatever the cons are doing" Keeper made Sludge and Grimlock looking alterations on the shuttles when they temporary ran the faction. Don't know what else they ordered to happen when they led. Quickswitch says, "By getting them before they get us!" You say, "Well, we're not here to 'stop whatever the 'Cons are doing' -- we can be proactive, though it is definitely more challenging for us. My goal is to make it less challenging and encouraging us to find ways to have just as much exciting RP as a Decepticon can, and being able to do it spontaneously and without a TP or say orders from your facehead." Keeper likes his facehead where it is. You say, "I realize the situation in the summer wasn't ideal, and I should have planned how that would work better -- I gave staff the authority to come in and temp Rodimus as needed, but obviously that didn't happen so I do apologize for that." Silverbolt has a big TP in the works......isn't approved yet though. Keeper had a tp for humans primarily but it fizzled. Sky Lynx nods gently Raindance says, "There's plenty of big tps in the works, and some very autobot-centric things" You say, "I have to run the faction by delegating authority. I'm just one person, ICly and OOCly, and I can't tell everyone what to do at all times. I try to have big projects on the board, and delegate to each division ways they can assist in those projects. I am keeping a closer eye on division leadership, and while I don't like firing people, you'll see we have a new Military CO and a new XO should be coming along soon." You say, "If you are at a -loss- as to what to do, I consider it your responsibility to come speak to me, either via @mail, page, or whatever means you have and have this conversation with me face to face." Defcon isn't sure it's about proactive vs reactive. "I think it's more along the lines of leadership. The ones in the positions are not doing (my opinion only, and a broad one at that) much of it. A good example is the military division. I think I've received one order, and it was from Impulse. He's not even in that category, and he was handing down orders like he was. I really appreciated him for that (even though babysitting wasn't the best), it felt like there was some structure to rank around here... ...not just a pointless title." You say, "I can't go through the +roster and know who has things to do and who doesn't -- there has to be a dialogue, and it goes both ways. So please, let me encourage you, if you feel stuck in your RP, talk to me -- it can be IC or OOC -- and I'll do what I can to help you along." Defcon says, "I would like to propose a rotating XO/CO division thinger though." Sky Lynx says, "TPs can be good enforcers but also great destroys of fine rp. My issue right now seems to be all nice and dandy we have some rp, but such as myself. I am a serious roleplayer. Comedy is good and all, but to much of it can be highly annoying. When I first came here, there was much in the way of Serious RP, most of it very random, and it was enjoyable. Lately, there has been more TPs and less Serious roleplay. Perhaps I am just being over-critical of the situation, but lets face it-- People running around, yelling like children over the autobot channel is highly, annoying, both ic and oocly." Raindance says, "Like, say a 2 month commission, defcon?" Keeper took orders last from Arcee when volunteering to guard Ark II... oh wait, also requested permission to temporarily abandon post for another thing to do, got approval from Rod. Otherwise, orders have been nil. Waiting to see what Grimlock does with Military command. Defcon says, "Something of the like. If the person is doing a great job (a anonymous vote or something), they keep their title. If not, Rod makes someone else the CO." Quickswitch says, "I've found TPs are quite short, a two week standard before things conclude, heal over, and the MUSH goes on as if things never happened. Some longer term, consquequential RP would be welcome." You say, "That's an idea, Defcon, but a lot of the times, there are only a small handful of people qualified ICly and OOCly to run a division -- I'm not exactly sure how rotating can really work. It needs to be a subjective determination. Of course, I encourage players to help (So and so is great at running scenes, I'd like to see him have an officer position!) would help a lot, certainly." Raindance says, "Well my pov Sky Lynx is that if you want to do something, you're free to do it" Sky Lynx says, "then I'll make note of that." Defcon says, "Or even promoting someone who isn't 'on paper' qualified to test out their mettle and leadership?" Quickswitch says, "That can be easier said than done, Rain." You say, "I don't know about that, Defcon. If enough people like that idea, I'll try it, but ICly it's kind of a stretch." Lee-Zard says, "Well, that's why we have a bunch of awesome TPstaffers, Quick" You say, "You don't hand Gomer Pyle the keys to Delta Force or something, you know?" Raindance has a metric ton of srs stuff coming up :v Lee-Zard says, "if you have an idea but not sure how to handle it, ask them for some help" Keeper doesn't know if this has been done, but ST style away teams, rotate lowbies in the group to lead? You say, "Yeah, all of our big TP's coming down the pipe are very 'Serious'." Raindance says, "Well consequence wise, there has been a lot lot more run-on from tps than in the past, but of course there is always the balance of not wanting to be /too/ continuity heavy and so isolating newbies and more casual players" Defcon says, "I understand why not, it's only a suggestion to keep the convo/discussion moving. Such as Defcon. Stat wise, he can't lead anyone out of a wet papersack (LDR of 08). But obviously I don't RP that way, waiting on some AP to upgrade that... ...but that's not really the point. I'm losing focus. I just want to see more divisional leadership, at the very least one Division TP per month." Sky Lynx says, "actually, Rodimus-- once we get done with the meeting, I like to ask you something, if that is alright." You say, "Sure, SL." Sky Lynx nods Impulse has some spam about ready as well, regarding Defcon's points. Rodimus Prime nods to Defcon. "I want to see more divisional leadership, too. I will try to work harder with division heads to keep them on task, and if they're not up to it, to make sure new people are cycled in." Defcon says, "Thank you Roddy." You say, "Okay, Impulse, go for it." Silverbolt says, "Ya can't really replace the combiner team leaders though...." You say, "Yeah, they are guaranteed to at least lead their team if nothing else. ;)" Impulse hmms. "Speaking from the Intelligence standpoint, at least for myself (because I'm not going to speak for Nightbeat)... many of the people that I'd want to rely on for some of the things I want to do, I can't because I haven't seen them around. And worse, I have to be exceedingly cautious about IC/OOC info, because of the fact that I play Punch/Counterpunch -- I can't just give myself IC info, because that's alt interaction, though with P/CP, I've been rather discouraged lately about him... as well as felt like I needed to focus primarily on Impulse. "That said... yes, I've likely stepped on toes lately with cross-division stuff, but honestly... I've felt a lot of eyes are on me, because we didn't really have anyone active rank 5 and up at the time, and what help I was getting was more 'yes-man' in the sense of I made snap decisions, and then got backup on that. And I appreciate Silverbolt for helping with that. I've also had to step on toes with Powerglide a couple of times ICly over the radio stuff, and there... well, he keeps up, and he'll make Blot and Apeface look like paragons of cleanliness in comparison by the time he's done cleaning every last square centimeter of Metroplex until it shines enough to see a reflection. "I've talked with people before about it -- most, actually, have come to me noticing that. And... I need help. I need to see more than just EFCs showing up solely for combat. I have my concerns still about things, but at least Rod's gotten IC a bit more with stuff, and Kup so far seems pretty decent -- haven't met Jazz yet, and UM (much as I don't like to say stuff behind people's backs) has been a non-entity aside from combat. That's why I took some initiative when it came to wrapping up this stuff with the cerebro-shells." You say, "I definitely appreciate you stepping up the initiative with running scenes, Impulse. Also, I realize you're in a really tricky situation with CP and playing an Intelligence officer simultaneously." You say, "If there's anything I can help you out with there, let me know." Impulse says, "That, and I'm tired of people thinking I'm as paranoid as Red Alert. ;)" Defcon has Hot Spot for leadership if it's needed. Raindance says, "In Magnus's defense, he's probably not about at the same times as others, I see him about a lot in non-combat scenes and he does always more than make his hours per week. Perhaps what we need is more bbposts, like the Cons do :)" Silverbolt says, "I've met the most recent Jazz. he seems up for the leadership role....in my eyes." You say, "Magnus is a good guy and a great roleplayer, but I understand the concern. I think he was a little lost without me to bounce off of, but I'll see if I can improve his visibility in the faction." Silverbolt says, "He just needs a bit of catch on past RPs." Lee-Zard bribed Jazz to join the MU, but haven't RPed with him yet. Raindance says, "Well maybe make CO and XO like aerospace is run, and say "hey if you want this post, I want to see say, one decent tp from you a month"" Sky Lynx says, "That could be another division-- instead of just Military, perhaps doing an aerospace division. One dealing in the air combat and such." You say, "I don't need TP's from officers, I mostly need leadership and people keeping tabs on what their subordinates are up to." Raindance says, "Well I mean tp as in 'long term stuff/projects going on'" Impulse says, "If he is, it must be late-night, because I've seen him idle OOC or idle IC for hours on end during the day. As for requiring division COs/XOs to come up with TPs, I disagree with that, mostly because then there's too much stuff and no one could keep up with it all." Sky Lynx says, "since we do have things like myself whom are in space, Vigil, Raptor, the Aerialbots-- probably some others I'm sure hiding somewhere." Defcon says, "Rather than TP, I'd want to see a stiring of the troops." Defcon is space capable. :(Keeper is space incapable :) You say, "I actually think this game has a great amount of TP's, so I don't think we're really hurting there, though we could always use more if you have ideas, of course." Silverbolt is doing a push for the Aerialbots to be space capable. Jennifer has space to rent. Defcon says, "Sidenote: Aren't the Seekers space capable right out of the bag?" Raindance says, "No" Defcon says, "Okay." Impulse says, "No, but Ramjet's upgraded himself to be." You say, "As far as an Aerospace Division -- I don't think we have enough flyers to really support it. I like our current division structure, even if Military is the top-heavy one. Of course, if people feel differently I'm open to suggestions." Defcon would like a push for Aerospace. Silverbolt says, "actually Rodimus...it WOULD be a good idea to have an Aerospace division." Defcon says, "And it's not the jealous little brother reaction, But the Septicons have one!" Keeper says, "TP's I've enjoyed enough to be firmly active and attentive through the whole thing: Apox Box, Gestaltered States, and Olympics" Sky Lynx nods, "Think on it. If we also had one, more people may make some OCs to be part of it." Sky Lynx says, "and that would also make some interesting rp and place some pressure on the Decepticons-- which I do love doing. :>" Nightbeat says, "Personally, one of the things about Autobots is that they *don't* do the flying thing. Flying Autobots *should* be rare." Sky Lynx says, "they are rare-- but it does place some pressure still." Nightbeat says, "We're supposed to have a more civilian, grounded focus, compared to all the military machines." Keeper says, "oh and humanization" Defcon says, "But they aren't really. Think about it, we have enough for a division." Nightbeat says, "Having an actual Aerospace wing would dilute our focus." Sideswipe nods. Raindance says, "What about an... Of Road Team? :v" Nightbeat says, "Want an air force in the good guys? Join the EDC. They have Talons." Defcon says, "As of right now, we have 63 members of military." You say, "I see Autobot flyers as being more integrated with the ground troops than the Decepticons. They're there to support the ground forces -- like Marine Corps aviators or something like that." Keeper says, "lesser involved in civil war, time-altered altmode tp... hmmm... oh I liked the prison planet FC intro stuff too by the way" You say, "But if there's enough support for our own Aerospace division, I'll definitely entertain it. Military is a very large division, for sure." Impulse says, "Heh. Strife was the one who picked my altmode out for me for the Transmogrification TP (the time-altered altmodes)." Defcon says, "The Cons have 18, specifically listed as 'Ground forces'." Raindance says, "Well as a general tp-note in response to Keeper, I am more keen on TPs that set up a new situation for people to rp around, rather than just force people into situations" Sideswipe says, "If we get an Aerospace we'll need a excavation assault force for the drill tanks, infantry for the cars, Old Guard for the G1ers.." Keeper says, "With the new combat system going into place, maybe intro more FCs, those toy teams? Some who have a attack base part they sit in?" Raindance :v You say, "Keeper, we are planning more FC's for the new combat system. Look forward to exciting news there." Keeper yays Sideswipe says, "Sweet." Defcon is just looking over the roster differences, and doesn't think an aerospace division will really hurt us. You say, "I think the Aerospace Division thing is pretty big to consider. If you guys want to get together and see how many people are interested and get back to me on that, I would appreciate it." Defcon nods. "Who's next?" Quickswitch looks at himself and gets confused about what division he's in... errr... :) You say, "I don't think anyone else was waiting to speak. If so, speak up now. :)" Defcon will prepare some more spam then... Raindance says, "Quickswitch is in 6 divisions" Keeper takes a slice of Quickswitch pie. Keeper says, "Down to 5 divisions now" Defcon says, "One thing to mull over while I prepare this is Closer relations with the EDC. How? Why? Where? When? etc." You say, "Nate was actually interested in starting an Autobot Liason division." You say, "Like a group of EDC troopers who were under direct Autobot command." Sideswipe says, "Do they have the numbers for that?" Rodimus Prime isn't sure how far he got with that, but I can bug him about it if that interests you. You say, "No clue, really. I don't think the group would be particularly big." Sideswipe says, "When it came up I asked Jetfire to draft a squad for it, never heard of it again." Impulse says, "And Jets is available again..." Impulse says, "Hmm..." Silverbolt says, "Hey Sides?" Quickswitch pipes up, "I love the military focus we've been having over the last while. It really feels like a resistance army defending freedom from tyranny." Silverbolt says, "which Jetfire did you talk to? before and during or after the humanizing plot?" Sky Lynx thinks for a moment Sideswipe says, "Dunno. That's all kind of a mixed bag." Silverbolt says, "I ask because Before and during the Humanizing plot....was me." Silverbolt says, "after was Bumblebee/Vigil" Sideswipe says, "Most likly." Silverbolt says, "I told Vigil about it...but it seems to have blown it off." "I've been hearing a lot of complaints... ...well let me correct that, hearing about complaints being voiced against Autobots who are proactive with their pursuit of Cons and their militaristic viewpoint and how it relates to our faction. I welcome 'constructive' criticism, but most of the time it's not really anything you can come away with... ...other than a headache and getting a tad pissed off. This also touches on the subject of other peoples opinions on how you should play your character." "My perspective on this is that we 'loosley' base this MU on an 80's cartoon made for kids. In the shows, Autobots are always upstanding good guys and all Decepticons are assholes who just want to cause as much destruction as possible. I also realize it's just that, a cartoon made in the 80's that was 'pussified' for children. Obviously, we've been embroiled in this war for millions of years, and /all/ the bots aren't going to share the same happy-go-lucky attitude. I appreciate the reverse view of the spectrum, Decepticons who aren't ready to fly off the handle and shoot babies in the face. I think the 80's depiction is a starting point to base off of, but not something that should really define your character. I know that your close with Galv Rod, so if you could have a ... ... talk with him about it; it'd be appreciated." <--Defcon Raindance has heard people hearing about complaints, but I've never actually heard any complaints about Autobots being militaristic first-hand. Is this a real issue, or something blown out of proportion by chinese whispers. F-4 Phantom II looks at himself, and notes there's no question about where he goes whether his team becomes part of an Aerospace division or remains in Military. Quickswitch says, "I agree with Defcon." You say, "Defcon, I haven't heard anyone complain about us being too militaristic, but I will talk to Galvatron and see if there's something I'm unaware of." Silverbolt chuckles and pats FF. You say, "Personally, I love the 80's cartoon and it's my paragon of what RP should be like, but that's just me. ;)" Defcon points everyone to the Con meeting log. Raindance says, "Which bit?" Rodimus Prime ahs. "I haven't read that, DC, is it brought up there?" Defcon says, "It's touched upon there, but I've seen pages about it." Nightbeat says, "Well, I play both sides of the fence, and I have seen Autobots who aren't necessarily too militaristic but who are too... destructive." Defcon searches. Sky Lynx says, "from what I understood, the MU* was loosely based off the Movie back in 1986, and the movie to me was not kiddie.. and season 3.. well.. I never really got into season 3 because it got to campy. so I stuck to the movie and the stuff before the movie." Nightbeat says, "Like, they'll pose ruining people's houses and not checking if anyone was inside." Moonracer says, "Well, I know personally, that I'm a little 'too' happy go lucky for some people some times, just from my experience. I don't know if that's good or bad, but I am not sure where the status quo is officially supposed to be." Nightbeat says, "And there's really no call for that, with most Autobots, and there really ought to be IC repercussions for those kinds of actions, which are generally glossed over." Raindance says, "As far as I'm aware, the problem lies with say, Autobots setting fire to Texas (nudge nudge) or going on one man suicide missions when their character is a mild mannered janitor, rather than the idea that the autobots are a military generally" Quickswitch says, "And as far as I know, that was an accident." You say, "Well, I deal with such issues when I become aware of them. I think that's all I can offer right now on that front, Defcon. Obviously, we shouldn't be throwing babies down the well in our pursuit of Decepticons, and while it's IC for Grimlock, say, to smash a building with his tail without thinking about it or Scattershot to go a little off the handle, they shouldn't be flagrant or disrespectful to NPC civilians, either. So, if someone seems to be going a little too far, just let me know, and I will deal with it ICly or OOCly as need be." Moonracer says, "admittedly my experiences were being reprimanded for MacCathyist Witchhunts with CLiffjumper, so that's probably entirely justified and understandably reasonable." Sky Lynx says, "that was an accident." Impulse says, "Vigil-Jetfire should have known better. And Texas, it's a wonder that it still survives as a state, given that's twice I know of where things have gone really nuts with Autobots getting a bit over-zealous. But things happen sometimes, and Sky Lynx did make reparations in abundance, from what I recall." Raindance says, "Oh I know, I know" Keeper wonders. "What about that asteroid in orbit, how's that coming along?" Silverbolt says, "before we go into the repercussions of what we do, guys.....I'd like to make one minor point first." You say, "Sure, SB." Silverbolt says, "before the Argosy.....I was sitting as XO and watching the entire faction getting demoralized becuase we were getting our Butts handed to us on an almost nightly basis by the cons....." Defcon says, "That was all I had to say about that. If the Cons want the give and take with the more easily going Cons, then I'd like some respect with the more battle hardended military guys. Take me for example. My function is 'Bounty Hunter'. As far as I know, there is no 'nice' way to go about it without coming off as a total nincompoop or artard." Defcon says, "Sorry, had to get that out before topic switch." You say, "One of the things I hoped to give people with the Argosy attack was a sense that the Autobots could strike back and strike hard. I definitely don't like us feeling like we're whipping boys for the Decepticons to try their AP upgrades out on or anything." Nightbeat says, "Personally? Defcon seemed pretty easy-going and like a fairly nice guy in the cartoon. I dunno." Silverbolt isn't done with the point... Jennifer says, "He practically adopted that little alien guy, huh?" You say, "Defcon's 08 Leadership is a little bizarre, yeah." Quickswitch says, "My function is assault warrior, as in assault and battery. There's no nice way of going about that either." You say, "We might want to pretty please ask DepthCharge to up it." You say, "beyond 'Autistic Retard With No Social Abilities' as the stat suggests." Silverbolt says, "The Argosy was the first major victory we had (and I'm gonna beat on Raindance/BLueshift for a second here), and as we went to celebrate......Blueshift had the Argosy crash and have a literal 'cloud of death' heading towards Indonesia. I noticed it, as did the EDC....no one else seemed to because it was pretty much our first REAL victory......As Red Alert, I sent out Sky Lynx and Jetfire to handle it (and was promptly blown off by Jetfire for a combat scene)." Ultra Magnus says, "I think Defcon's 'hardass' persona comes from an obscure comic where he was basically presented like Lobo of the Autobots." Silverbolt says, "it wasn't long after that I mentioned it to Blueshift....who seemed to agree with me. But we still Rped out containing the 'death cloud'." Defcon doesn't try to play up the Wolverine/Lobo personna of him, but not the friendly cuddly Snuggle bear either. "Somewhere in the middle." Rodimus Prime thinks of Defcon as an easy-going space cowboy. Keeper says, "Dog the bounty hunter?" Raindance says, "Well I was told that should the Argosy crash, then it HAD to bring up a cloud of death, and it was either Austrailia or Indonesia.." --- NO BAREBACK ASTEROID--- Silverbolt says, "The Point I'm trying to make in that instance is....yeah...there should be consequences of your actions...but not to the point of demoralizing the entire faction to the point of 'What's the point of playing an Autobot?'......" You say, "So you felt the pollution cloud was too demoralizing?" Rodimus Prime was actually against the destruction of the city creating any kind of fallout... Another staff member insisted on it. Keeper finds pollution clouds highly demoralizing... Keeper says, "Cause if pollution clouds were wrangleable, then pollution wouldn't be a global problem." Defcon says, "It's like 'Hey, you won the lottery!' but then the government takes half, then the courts come after you for child support, and a grandma jacks you for your last nickel." Nightbeat says, "I kinda like that there are repercussions." Silverbolt says, "It was really demoralizing. Thankfully, Red Alert (me) noticed it from Metroplex and Sky Lynx and Jetfire had a working pollution control device." You say, "Well, you guys saved the day. It couldn't have been that bad, then, right? :)" Rodimus Prime knows what you mean, though. I wanted a solid Autobot victory there without any 'moral gray zone' headaches. You say, "'Yay the Autobots blew up the Decepticons' fortress on Earth' 'oh but every dolphin died :('" Defcon says, "Exactly." Silverbolt says, "luckily. Every now and then, each faction should have a solid 'VICTORY' without any drawbacks. Sorry Nightbeat...." You say, "Well, ultimately the Argosy thing was a solid Autobot victory and you guys should see it as such." Raindance says, "Yeah, I mean, once we blow up Cybertron, THEN..." Raindance says, "uuh..." Raindance says, "I mean..." Sky Lynx says, "...." Keeper points. "Blow up Cybertron and die." You say, "Is there anything else anyone would like to discuss? I realize we've been running a little long here." Silverbolt says, "If Cybertron gets Blown up....I will use Raindance as a Cyber planet key." Moonracer says, "I got to be the guy" Silverbolt says, "I'd like to touch on something Rodimus....." Moonracer says, "it was pretty sweet." You say, "Sure, SB." Defcon says, "No Silverbolt, you can't touch me /that/ way. :P" Silverbolt smacks Defcon Silverbolt says, "I don't know if it's been touched on yet.....but has anyone spoken to you about non-combat RP?" Sideswipe says, "What's that?" Silverbolt says, "this is....to Rodimus in Particular....." Rodimus Prime has heard that people desire more of it, yes. "We haven't talked about non-combat RP in this meeting, though." Keeper says, "TP tonight, non combat right?" Silverbolt says, "yeah....it should be actually." Keeper says, "good, been in enough fights this week" Defcon says, "For almost all of it. The plan is to have some Cons come and threaten the city, having the Protectobots actually protect something. :/" Silverbolt says, "Just wanted to say that not all RP should be pewpewpewHASTAYTHEREANDMELTHAHA!" Keeper says, "oh... so... a little pewpewpew then..." Rodimus Prime nods. You say, "Anything else on anyone's mind?" Defcon says, "For those who desire it, it's always up for non-coded combat as well." Silverbolt says, "what I was meaning though....was seeing more of the CoC in the non-combat roles." Sky Lynx says, "I also agree with that. RP should have several forms fo flavor, to much combat can make the game feel well.. like a game" Defcon says, "Just social RP between bots?" Quickswitch says, "Non-Coded combat seems frowned upon, imo.. I'd welcome it though." Sky Lynx says, "anyone who has played DnD knows that a good dm allows the players to have a little combat and some time in town, hanging with the people." Silverbolt says, "yeah...like Asking Rodimus if his flames are stickers instead of paint." Rodimus Prime doesn't really like non-coded combat, but it's all about what people prefer, yeah. Defcon says, "Bytheway, is your arm still pink Rod?" Nightbeat also tends to dislike non-coded. Silverbolt says, "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Sky Lynx doesn't mind non-coded and coded. Ultra Magnus says, "People all have RP they prefer, whether it's combat or non-combatative. I'm down for either, really, it's just that scenes I've been in have largely been combat. Which isn't a bad thing." You say, "Well, if I'm online (and not idle, heaven forbid), I'm available for RP, combat or non. If you want to ask Rodimus about his flames, just ask." Quickswitch says, "To me, the code just takes the place of a human judge, and a human judge wouldn't always be neccesary." You say, "It's still pink, yeah." Sky Lynx says, "non-coded to me, honestly, dimstrates just how good for a rper you are." Sky Lynx says, "how well you know how to not god-mode and how good at you at knowing your character." Defcon says, "The division thing was my main concern." Sky Lynx says, "and Rodimus, speaking of idling-- may I suggest if your going to idle, place up a flag letting people know-- or just don't log on unless your going to be active. It can sometimes be a tad bit discouraging when we are trying to get ahold of you-- and there is no respons.. then your gone." Rodimus Prime has to AFK like anyone else, but if you see my Idle flag is 20 minutes or something, just send me an @mail. I always respond to them. Sky Lynx says, "but then again-- I dislike idling, but that is perhaps because the first MU* I ever played is enforced ic and refuses any and all ooc." Ultra Magnus says, "Yeah, don't be discouraged if someone in the CoC doesn't respond to pages, I seriously doubt anyone is deliberately ignoring you. @mails work just as nice as paging for anything important and I'm sure we'd all respond to them; I know I would." Sideswipe says, "I never liked hard enforced IC." Defcon chuckles once again. Two CoCers in a row! Keeper has a less than 100 percent record with @mails. Not with CoC though. Defcon says, "Anyhoo, is there anything else?" Keeper leanrs to distrust @mails and emails and regular mails. You say, "I think we're all done here unless anyone has anything else they'd like to discuss." Raindance says, "Um, I should regain sight in BOTH my eyes by Tuesday!" Jennifer says, "Which is the best beer in the USA..?" Reinforced YF-15 Star Eagle says, "Yuengling Black & Tan, Jennifer." Defcon says, "Corona or Molson." Jennifer says, "Black and Tan..? Corona..?" Jennifer chuckles. Ok! ^-^ You say, "Okay, I am going to despam and edit the log of this. Feel free to page if you need me. Thanks for coming everyone!" You say, "yay autobots" Silverbolt says, "thanks Rod." Moonracer says, "Rodimus" Moonracer says, "you're so dreamy." Defcon says, "Thanks Roddymus." Raindance says, "Danke"
