Seeing an opportunity to cover their escape, the robbers knocked Carol unconscious, assuming (correctly) that the police would focus their attention on her while investigating her claim that her husband had been murdered by the robbers. Dick Tracy soon found sufficient evidence to confront Carol about her own crime and she confessed. She received a 20-year sentence. Eddie Rax was killed by the King's men.
