Accretion is the process of land forming which result from the deposition of material transported by streams. Accretion occurs primarily when a stream slows or enters a body of water such as at a delta. Accretion may add height and area to low lying land. In Bangladesh there are promising efforts to capture silt by river management which otherwise might flow out to sea.
