The Party for Liberal Democracy (Span: Partido por la Democracia Liberal) is an Argentinan political party that generally identifies with the center-right of the political spectrum. The PDL achieved its greatest triumph in the 2004 and 2008 Presidential elections, where they elected Raúl López to the Presidency. The PDL, however, failed to capture a majority in the Congress of Argentina during his Presidency, forcing them to seek coalitions with the ultra-right Radical Party and the centrist Party of Democratic Justice to pass his agenda. The party currently is the main opposition party in Argentina following the election of Daniel Scioli to the Presidency in 2012.
