  • Next Came Manivs Gellivs from Italia at 39. During his administration great efforts were made to settle Terra Nova. In 30 years the Empire’s territory was increased by almost a quarter. The previously discovered islands were grouped as the province of Tainocai. The provinces of Scanata, Calusia, and Nova Scandia were also added. The southern provinces had potential farmlands and the north mining and fishing. Trade was enormous and the New World's economic development reached a high pace. 1480(727) Colonists in Terranova originally from Greece began successful Sinomalum(orange) groves on the Tainocai island of Qubanica (Cuba). With experiment they made a sweetly bitter fruit jam from the Sinomali they called melimelon frouton. It is relatively similar to defrutum, except that oranges instead of grapes are used. Melimelon frouton becomes far more popular for the Terranovan colonists than anywhere else. 1493(740) ether was developed, allowing patients under surgery to not die due to insanity of pain. At this time Terra Nova was still so underpopulated by both coloni and aborigini that two legions (XXXIX and XL) were able to control all of Rome's holdings on the continent. A southern continent soon found was simply called South Terranova. 1503(750) Gellivs died at 69. Also this year, Theonphilos Timæos Arajos, an independent cartographer in Bætica, put together what he called the Chartæomnes, a book of a folded map showing all known lands from India to Terranova and Scandia to the Horn of Africa (180x75o) and including side notes on navigation, major cities, and cultural practices. Its folding was specially set for one to be able to focus on any 1x2/3pes(29.6x19.73cm) section or the full 12x4 pes(3.55x1.18m). People who viewed the whole map had the darndest time putting it back the way it was, but the united compendium of same scaled maps ended up being sought after by navigators, teachers, and other professions.
