On 1 July, it was announced that race drivers can drive in the test, as long as they are conducting tyre development. They also stated that the test could have been extended by an additional day, but this was not applied. McLaren's Kevin Magnussen set the fastest time on the first day, 0.172 seconds ahead of full time driver Paul di Resta. On day two, Daniel Ricciardo was strongest, posting the best time in his Toro Rosso in the morning, before posting the third-best time for Red Bull in the afternoon. On the third day, Sebastian Vettel set the quickest time of the test with a 1:32.894.
