In former times silver mines could be found in both parts of the Coastal Hills, although more silver and that of better quality could be found in the northern parts, in the Barony Olau. Around 217 HE the mines in the northern hills ran out of silver. The silver mined there had a pearly sheen, buffed up. The insignia--a great shield over the Guildmaster's dais--in the Silversmith's Guild Hall in Corus was made from Coastal Hills silver. By 247 HE a new silver mine had been found at Olau and Hansevor Remy provided Pearl Skinner with this silver, which was then used for the great counterfeiting of 247 HE.
