In computer graphics, a sprite is a two-dimensional (or three-dimensional, occasionally) image or animation made out of pixels that is integrated into a larger scene. In the case of Sprite Comics, a group to which the vast majority of BZPower comics belong, a sprite is typically an image of a character or small object rendered (or "sprited") in a simple application such as Paint or a complex program such as Adobe Photoshop. However, Paint has been found much easier to sprite in and is therefore the spriter's tool of choice.

Typically, sprites are designed such that they can easily be edited, and are distributed freely for use in comics or other graphics. A series of sprites arranged for maximum convenience in editing is known as a kit, sprite kit, or spritesheet.File:Xaniskit poseable.png
