American Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare is the American branch of the S.P.E.W. The organization maintains a student chapter at the Charmbridge Academy, where Dewshine Jennifer serves as president; David Washington and, to a lesser degree, Alexandra Quick and Anna Chu, have also taken up the cause. Due to the ASPEW's work, much of Wizarding America, including Charmbridge, has replaced elf-work with Clockwork Golems, though some, like Baleswood, have resisted the change.
