For the 1994 film Clifford, Garretson reunited with Star Trek VI's First Assistant Director Douglas E. Wise. She worked as both a Second Assistant Director and First Assistant Director on Kelsey Grammer's hit television series Frasier from 1993 through 2000. She was also a First Assistant Director on a number of short-lived television shows such as CBS's Pearl and Welcome to New York and NBC's Encore! Encore! and In-Laws. She has since become a principal director. Between 1999 and 2004, she directed 11 episodes of Frasier. Other television shows she has directed include Reba (starring Scarlett Pomers), Girlfriends (starring Golden Brooks), and George Lopez. She has been nominated for a Directors Guild of America Award for Best Comedy Director.
