Baron François de Charette (born 2 May 1763, Couffé, France, died 26 March 1796, Nantes, France) commanding five thousand French royalist troops in Quiberon was to have combined forces with Marquis de Pouzauges with a battalion of royalist troops and the Earl of Edrington with a half-battalion from the 43rd Foot, both arriving from Plymouth. Charette was to march on Vannes and Rennes.
