The name came from the large number of starfighters and other starships that crashed in the area during the opening hours of the Dread War, and though the Dread Host took control of the area early on, the Galactic Republic's Strike Team Oricon and the Sith Empire's Dread Executioners established separate bases on the western edge, and rescued many of the survivors.
