abstract
  • Tom Smith is a colonist, assisting a group of settlers to place roots on the planet Pharisee. While examining the planet, Smith and the leader of the colonial expedition see a piranosaur killing a winky. Tom shoots the piranosaur and adopts the winky, a name given by the leader due to the rodentish creature's rapid eye-blinking. The settlers adopt the voluminous winkies as beloved pets. The son of the leader defends his winky from being eaten from a piranosaur, but instead is eaten himself. The leader starts a campaign to wipe out the piranosaurs, but it becomes evident the balance was disrupted in the action. Soon, the Winky population becomes aggressive, wiping out the colonists.
