Much of the show featured Nimoy dressed in a sport coat and jeans who stood in front of a star field while addressing the camera. Clips from the original show and the first two movies were shown throughout the course of the show. At the end of the documentary, Nimoy was asked if Spock would return to life for future movies and he responded by saying "In science fiction, is death the final chapter of life, or just the beginning of another story?" This special was often included in Star Trek syndication packages to bring the total number of episodes of The Original Series to eighty. In many markets, it commonly aired following Star Trek's last episode, "Turnabout Intruder" , before the re-airing of the first episode, "The Man Trap" . Although "The Man Trap" was the sixth episode produced, it was the first aired, so most syndication packages retained the original airing order instead of the production order. "Where No Man Has Gone Before" was the first episode produced.
