As in this universe the events of infinity never happened. Nova was invited by Speedball to set up a new New Warriors team, but he declined. He went on trying to do heroics and messing everything up until five years later, with the arrival of the Shadows. When Thor, Iron Man, Captain America and Wolverine died everyone was confused and Nova decided that his time arrived, the time for the younger heroes to be the Avengers, but he thought that it would be weird to make an Avengers team without any Avengers member so he finally accepted the invitation of Speedball and joined The New Warriors.
Nova Corps
Some years later an old acquittance, Rocket Raccoon, called him to ask to join the Guardians of the Galaxy in the formation of the newest Nova Corps as they managed to establish the Nova Force. He felt that had to help to create the new Nova Corps and lead them.
War for the Universe
During the War for the Universe the Nova Corps went to the space-between-galaxies where the main battle took place. Nova alongside a branch of the Corps, infiltrated to Thanos' army main ship to disengage it. Proxima Midnight, who was guarding the ship fight them and only a few members of the Corps and Nova. Although they managed to kill Proxima, Thanos was still in the ship and their task resulted impossible, so they had to ran away destroying as many Thanos' ships as they could. When the remaining Nova Corps reunited Nova asked them to lend him all their power so he could end with the war, the Corps agreed, but the Guardians said they were afraid that to much power could destroy all the races in war resulting in a lot of civil wars between the different faction of each race. Nova, ignoring the guardians, attracted the attention of all the combating ships and carried the near to the nearest star that he shot with all the Nova Force. Although he survived to the explosion, picked up by the Guardians and brought home, when he woke up he didn't remember nothing about his Nova Corps and asked to see Speedball and Justice, his former teammates from the New Warriors. Knowing what happened to Nova, the two New Warriors ran to his house and were told by the Guardians what Nova did and that he lost all his power and later they left to try to restore the Universe.
The Warriors
The two old teammates of Nova told him that he lost his powers, without telling him what he had been done the past ten years and neither that he maybe killed all the participants of the War for the universe. After that Sam told his mates that he couldn't be a New Warrior anymore if he didn't had any power, but they told him that if he could not be a New Warrior he had to be a Warrior. This way they founded The Warriors.

| - His helmet grants him these powers and abilities because of its access to the Nova Force.
* Universal Translation: The helmet can make any alien species language appear to him as English.
* Cosmic Awareness: Sam's Nova helmet flashes him different colors to depict different scenarios. It also allows him knowledge of most situations going on near him.
* Flight: As Nova, Sam is able to fly at great speeds.
* Concussive Blasts: Like most Novas, Sam is able concentrate the power of the Nova Force into a beam or a ball of energy and fire it from his hands.
* Limited Telekinesis: While training with Gamora and Rocket Raccoon, Sam was ale to move Rocket Raccoon's favorite gun with his mind. This power seems limited and he is the only Nova ever shown to use this power.
* Superhuman Strength: Sam has access to the same strength as that of a denarian from the Nova Corps.
