Roger David Shannon (born July 3, 1924; died December 8, 2006) was the first and to date only First Husband of the United States from 1981-1989 when his wife Elizabeth was the 38th President of the United States. Prior to this, he was the First Husband of Michigan from 1971-1975 while his wife was Governor, and served in various engineering and managerial capacities at numerous manufacturing companies in and around Detroit.

Shannon is regarded as one of the most influential spouses in Presidential history and is often attributed with helping his wife win every election in her political career through his various contacts in the business world and own personal charisma on the campaign trail. Beyond that, Shannon was known for being a superb mediator between management and labor in Detroit, due to his own career as an engineer and later board member at General Motors in the 1970's.
