The GT-R added to the C10 series Skyline on February 1969, was the first step in the glorious history of Skylines thereafter. Its 6 cylinder, twin-cam 4 valves per cylinder engine was the S20, taken directly from the famed R380 which left its mark in world speed records and the Japan GP. It was the engine of the Prince Motor Company that kept its shine, even after its merger with Nissan. However, though the price of the normal GT was 80,000 yen, the S-20 engine of the GT-R alone cost 700,000 yen.

  • The GT-R added to the C10 series Skyline on February 1969, was the first step in the glorious history of Skylines thereafter. The 4 door sedan and hardtop GT-Rs both have a long nose consistent with the history of "Ska-G"s. The surface line across the rear fender was a fresh accent, but the GT-R totally ignored these features. A screwed on over fender for housing the large tires cut across the beautiful lines. The GT-R was not famed for things like that. What got it famous was its record in races. Oppama works cars and their famous drivers such as Moto Kitano and Kunimitsu Takahashi tore up the Fuji and Suzuka Circuits, and won the legendary 50 consecutive races in a row. But on the other hand, it was very difficult to perfectly adjust the high-tech 4 valves per cylinder, 3 carburetor, twin-cam GT-R engine. It is said that it was very rare that a typical user would be able to fully enjoy the exceptional performance of this engine on the street. Still, once it gave that metallic roar, it easily left its rivals in the dust, beyond the range of the rear view mirrors. Its tried and tested front strut, rear semi-trailing was also superbly balanced with its power.
