The 16th Infantry Regiment was a regiment in the United States Army and part of the 1st Infantry Division. It was stationed in Fort Devens, Massachusetts. On June 8th, 1948, Joseph Capelli was transferred to Company G of the 16th Infantry after spending time in Camp Wolters, Texas. It was here that he insulted an officer and was then given a dishonorable discharge and a court martial which found him guilty of insubordination.
