Gravure is a term used by Ibanez to describe decorative veneer tops applied to certain guitar models. These tops feature an image (generally of exotic wood grain) which is printed onto a veneer. Gravure tops give the appearance of exotic wood at a lower price point. More recently Ibanez has used the term "art grain" to describe similar faux veneers. The images are applied using a Rotogravure printing process. Gravure tops are sometimes referred to with the somewhat derisive term "photo flame".

The S09LTD3 even has a gravure crocodile skin top. Gravure tops are generally associated with less expensive models. Gravure tops are sometimes referred to with the somewhat derisive term "photo flame".
