The African violet was a hearty flowering plant native to the African continent on Earth. Admiral Jo Stern owned African violets, which she paid very little attention to, and which still survived. Stern used this example to dismiss the relevance of Elizabeth Lense's discovery of fresh flowers in the apartment of her deceased mother, Jennifer Almieri. (CoE eBook: Ghost)
