New Queensland was formed from an old-world ideal of reclaiming the north. Former Queensland and Australian Rugby League captain, Mal Meninga, came out of his reclusive lifestyle, lived in a dis-used gold mine shaft in Mount Isa, after noticing that the new-world Republic of Queensland led by the flamboyant King Wally [2] , was not adequately using the land north of the former Tropic of Capricorn. Rather than leave it to desolate, post-apocolyptic waste, Meninga traveled in secrecy to Townsville to see what was left of the former northern hub. It was here he found a small garrison of 200 citizens bunkered down underneath a football stadium already plotting a way to reclaim the northern part of former old-world Queensland. | - New Queensland was formed from an old-world ideal of reclaiming the north. Meninga put forward his ideals to the leaders and with that, and the finance he was willing to put on the table from a win he had on the 2005 Melbourne Cup, was instated to the leadership of this rebel group. On 09/18/2012, King Meninga announced the formation of the country to be known as New Queensland, declaring her borders immediately and proclaiming himself King. Shortly after the announcement, the King sought membership of the Nuclear Proliferation League [3] and was accepted immediately to their ranks. Working closely with other members of the league, New Queensland is currently working hard to produce technology to be exported to the new world. Infrastructure is on the rise and trade routes have opened up new waves of opportunity for New Queensland.
