Fireball is a very powerful spell; an army of fireball casting magi can destroy whole cities without losses. It can first be used to bombard a cities defenses to zero, then quickly destroy large numbers of enemies thanks to its splash damage effect, all from a distance. If you have 3 fire mana, all magi (but not adepts) you train will start with fireball
