An Entity of Type : owl:Thing, within Data Space : dbkwik.org associated with source dataset(s)

The cult of Basil Baxter is a parody religion that exists entirely and exclusively on the Internet. It started 17-5-2006 as a profile on the Hyves.nl social networking site and within a relatively short period gathered a few hundred ‘friends’. This number is not significantly high for a page on a social networking site where notable participants often boast hundreds, if not thousands of friendship connections, but it was high considering that membership was on invitation only. Since then membership appears to be open to anyone although actual membership numbers are unknown.

This number is not significantly high for a page on a social networking site where notable participants often boast hundreds, if not thousands of friendship connections, but it was high considering that membership was on invitation only. 30-10-2007 the page was removed by the Hyves.nl staff for undisclosed policy violations. A few days later the mock religion was back with it’s own site, [1]. Since then membership appears to be open to anyone although actual membership numbers are unknown.
