Hennessey claims the 2012 Venom GT is capable of hitting 278 mph (447 km/h) but has failed to reach it in its first attempt in which it managed to do 266 mph (427 km/h). However, it set a world record for 0-186 mph (0-300 km/h) and 0-200 mph (0-322 km/h) acceleration run. In February 2014, the Venom GT managed to record a top speed of 270 mph (435 km/h).
