The Advanced Target Defense System is an advanced experimental anti-tank missile/shell interception system. It is currently under development by the USNA Military and is planned to be used on the XMBT-1. Initial testing has proven to be mostly successful as it intercepts over 80% of all incoming targets. The problem is that under battlefield conditions it has been shown to malfunction up to 43% of the time. It uses a 20mm High Velocity Explosive round to intercept incoming munitions with either a explosive burst or with kinetic energy. It also has the ability to engage enemy aircraft and helicopters if they come into range. Due to the fact that it fires at almost anything that moves fast all friendly missiles and aircraft will have to be fitted with IFF devices to prevent the interception
