Unfortunately, the girl tried to bodge herself a lightfoil out of spare parts, locking her father and Clary out of her room while she worked. The debacle caused Thano to leave the smuggling business, and Clary was left adrift. She was able to eke out a meager living doing odd jobs in various places in the galaxy, until Vaago the Hutt sent her an "invitation" to return to Drifter's Paradise. Background
Clary was born in a run-down, out-of-the-way fishing village on Bastion. Her father owned the local repair and salvage shop. He taught Clary his trade, and she had a talent for it, with interest and passion to match. He chose her to be the one to inherit the shop and follow in his footsteps. She had a powerful wanderlust though, and was fascinated by any offworld ship she had a chance to repair: where it came from, where it was going, the stories of its crew... When Clary was 22, a wealthy real-estate magnate visited the town. He decided that, once the village itself was demolished and the local wetlands drained, that the area could be turned into a high-end beach resort and condos. The villagers tried to protest, and most of them refused to sell. The magnate had money and political connections on his side though, and he received permission to send in his corporation's armed "security" teams to evict the villagers by force. Clary saw her parents gunned down that day, and was only barely able to escape by stowing away on an escaping ship. The crew found her, and she was unceremoniously dumped off at Drifter's Paradise with nothing but her well-worn mechanic's tools and the clothes on her back.Family
