About: Vampyres   Sponge Permalink

An Entity of Type : owl:Thing, within Data Space : dbkwik.org associated with source dataset(s)

There are two ways to become a Vampyre, but there is no way to differentiate between Vampyres produced by each method. The first method is to be originally human with the capability to become a Vampyre, and then to turn in the presence of an Ancient. These first turn into Fledgings, and sometime after their eighteenth birthday, they become fully fledged Vampyres. Fledgings are normally turned during puberty or adolescence. The second method is to be a child of two Vampyres. Like those who begin as humans, the children will first become Fledgings, and then Vampyres later.

  • Vampyres, as many know, drink blood of animals. This is basically the only thing on their diet, as their main necessity in their diets is protein, which is supplied in great quantities in any blood that a Vampyre indulges itself in drinking. Any other vitamin or mineral is hardly required at all, but is supplied nonetheless by the variety of animals that Vampyres feast upon. Lunar energy is used, rather than Solar energy, as Vampyres are nocturnal, and are most in their elements at night.

The most interesting aspect of a Vampyre's biology is their ability to absorb Lunar energy and store it until a later cause. How exactly this is done, is unknown, as Lunar light is simply light from the Sun reflected off the Moon. A theory that has been suggested to explain this is that the Moon of New World has a substance on its surface that gives off a strange shine when light is reflected off it, and it's this shine that adds the necessary ingredient to making the Lunar energy a power source for Vampyres. Lunar energy is used, rather than Solar energy, as Vampyres are nocturnal, and are most in their elements at night. It is believed that Vampyres originally developed this ability to store energy from the many aspects of their biology that they require such a great deal of power for, their wings specifically. Their wings are hardly developed, having just gone through less than a million years to evolve, and are difficult to use when a Vampyre is of their regular enrgy level. They ave also not evolved to the state in which wings are visible appendages on the outside of their anatomy, but are rather currently folden neatly, just below the surface of the skin of their back. These wings can only be released, and used properly, when a Vampyre releases a reasonably amount of stored Lunar energy, generally several weeks worth. The event in which a Vampye releases this amount of energy is known as Potonychryzation, and it is only through this act that the wings can be released, as stated above. When a Vampyre Potonychrizates, their front fangs protrude slightly further, and their eyes mist over until they are completel white, as well. These are all aspects of a nocturnal predator, and a Vampyre's main weapons.
