It depends on what OS you are working on. Normally the best way to remove a corrupt file is just to delete it from the command line if your GUI doesn't let you. To drop to a command line in windows press and hold the windows key on the keyboard while pressing "r" to bring up the run dialog box, then type "cmd" to launch the command line.
