Five inch Friday was the name given to the military operations led by the British Army and the Royal Australian Navy starting on 20 March 2003 during the invasion of Iraq, on the Al-Faw Peninsula in the southern part of the country. This was the first time since the Vietnam War that the RAN provided fire support to land forces, among others, from HMAS Anzac and HMS Marlborough.
