Evan Leshara was the cousin of the Lord Holder, Wester Leshara. He was described as the most persuasive of the Leshara family, and extremely spiteful. In order to counter what they saw as an advantage of the Frelennye family in having Tylendel in the Palace training to be a Herald-Mage, Evan was dispatched to Court. Once there he spread malicious rumors about Tylendel's twin brother, Staven, insinuating that he was too young and inexperienced to hold the position of Lord Holder. It was all part of the plan to remove Staven from his position, replacing him with a timid, cloistered cousin who would be married off to a Leshara, who would then rule through her.

When Tylendel, lost in madness, attacked the Leshara family at their family home, Westrel Keep, Evan was the only human casualty. Vanyel never could say if Evan had been attacking or fleeing from the wyrsa Tylendel had summoned. When he moved, one of the wyrsa disemboweled him before he had a chance to scream.
