The BUN-to-creatinine ratio is determined by dividing the patient's blood urea nitrogen result by their serum creatinine. The normal range of the ratio is 10-20. Too high a value points to dehydration, and too low a value to kidney damage. The result can also point directly to the cause of the problem.
