An Entity of Type : owl:Thing, within Data Space : dbkwik.org associated with source dataset(s)

Stock Robots were robots provided by the Robot Wars production crew in order to make up the numbers in a given event. Only five were ever seen in the history of the show. Three of them (Grunt, WYSIWYG and Eubank the Mouse) were required to compete in the first series to add to the 33 genuine competitors. They were prohibited from reaching the Arena stage during their heats, resulting in them being eliminated in their Trials after clearing The Gauntlet without much difficulty. The three Stock Robots from the first UK series were robots from international robotic combat competitions that took place before the televised show began.

The three Stock Robots from the first UK series were robots from international robotic combat competitions that took place before the televised show began. The Stock Robots are generally frowned upon by fans of the first series, as although they were included to make up numbers, they would eliminate an actual competitor before mysteriously 'breaking down' or deliberately eliminating themselves from the Trials. Three other stock robots were seen following Series 1, two of them in televised combat. In the Inferno Insurrection, held during the Series 2 Grudge Matches special, Ramrombit, a sacrificial robot driven by George Francis, was used in the exhibition battle alongside Nemesis and Sergeant Bash. For the second series of Robot Wars Extreme, a member of the Robot Wars crew built a robot specifically to represent Australia in the Commonwealth Carnage tournament. The team members were competition winners from Australia, and it was given a stereotypical Australian name, Bondi Titch. Another stock robot, Teddybot, was built as a demonstration robot that appeared briefly at the Series 4 qualifiers. However, it was not seen on television.
