Alan's parents died in an insurrectionist attack when he was nine. The attack also killed his three sisters, prompting him to seek revenge. Alan Anderson joined the UNSC Army when he was Eighteen, and graduated second in his class, the top cadet being his best friend and wife Aranda Dayle. He, along with Miss Dayle, were apart of the third platoon of Orion Company. Alan was promoted to corporal a year after joining, but was never promoted again for ten years after assaulting a superior officer, who had let Aranda die by an insurrection terrorist plot. The then Corporal Anderson was never punished severely, mostly because of his extreme loyalty to the UNSC and his superiors, and this was the first time he had ever acted against orders or showed any kind of hostility towards his allies in his then ten year career. Alan began earning respect from officers and formed a formidable reputation from other branches, such as the Navy or Marines.
