In 2370, Captain fin’Yrach sent out a distress call after the Gift of Flight was attacked the Helios. Deep Space 9 responded to the distress call and Kira Nerys and Julian Bashir were dispatched aboard the USS Ganges to render assistance. The Helios later fired on the engineering section of the Gift of Flight, killing its engineers and reducing the starship to impulse engine power. Captain fin’Yrach was unwilling to abandon ship, due to the valuable cargo it was carrying from Anabasi to Xawen. Captain fin’Yrach and his crew were killed after the Helios fired on the ship.
