Walter Jost (25 July 1896 – 24 April 1945) was a highly decorated Generalleutnant in the Wehrmacht during World War II. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Walter Jost was killed on 24 April 1945 in Villadose after he was hit in a strafing run by low-flying British fighters.
