Obsidian Stairs are building-blocks cut into 6 steps on the dark-blue top-side. Usually placed as Stairs they will smooth the player-character's movement up and down gradients so no jumping is needed. However Stair-blocks can also be rotated and used as chamfers at corners or for decoration. Obsidian Stairs can be crafted in your Crafting Menu (default key "Q") or at Crafting Tables (that still exist in worlds created before R22 on September 16th 2015), but only after the crafting-recipe has been unlocked upon taking/crafting Stone Stairs for the first time (unlocked by Wood Stairs).

To craft 4 (blocks of) Obsidian Stairs at a time, you'll need (as of R29 in February 2016): * 2x Melted Wax made of Beeswax in a Forge or looted from Wood Treasure Chests or Stone Treasure Chests * 2 Obsidian Slabs made of Obsidian (bars) in a Processor * 1 Stone Rod made of Stone, Limestone or Bedrock in a Processor or found in Stone Treasure Chests
