Synopsis
  • In Seattle, Halloween is nearing, and Oliver Queen buys candy to give out at the Sherwood Florist, which his girlfriend Dinah Lance hopes to turn into a haunted castle for children to visit. When he returns, Dinah hands him some mail from Nottingham - a location which piques his interest. He gets on a plane to London soon after.
  • In Nottingham, , several hunters seek out a young woman named Rowan Hawthorne performing a pagan ritual in the forest. An owl warns her of their coming, and she escapes. When she arrives home, her grandfather disapproves of her activities, and they argue. The argument comes to an abrupt end when he suffers a heart attack and collapses on the floor, dead.
  • After an excruciating wait at customs, Oliver is met by Geoffrey Dunston, the lawyer on retainer to the Hawthorne family. Mr. Dunston explains that Rowan Hawthorne's mother had died in connection with her own obsession with druid rituals. This caused turmoil in the family, and Rowan's own growing obsession caused her grandfather much pain. Dunston reveals that Rowan has disappeared, believing herself responsible for her grandfather's death. When Oliver wonders why he was contacted, Mr. Dunston reveals that Green Arrow must find her before she is found and killed by witch-hunters from the villages nearby.
  • Oliver drives through the Sherwood Forest, stopping at the Blue Boar Inn for a room. When he mentions the Hawthorne estate, the room goes quiet, and a man called Constantine warns him against facing the forces of hell in the forest.
quotation
  • You're the adventurous sort. But I should at least warn you that you could be walking straight into hell.
