Edwin Jones (c.1838 - 5 June 1916) was a businessman and politician. In 1867 he formed a partnership with George Randall Higgins, and they opened a drapers shop "Jones and Higgins" in Rye Lane, Peckham. The shop was rapidly expanded into a large department store, employing 350 people. In 1896 Jones and Higgins became a limited company. In 1892 Jones was head of a syndicate that acquired another major store "Bon Marché" in Brixton. In 1891 he donated a sum of money towards the opening up of Peckham Rye Park, and paid for the erection of an ornamental drinking fountain.

Jones entered politics: in 1887 he was treasurer of the Peckham Liberal and Radical Association, and in 1889 when he was elected to the first London County Council to represent Camberwell (Peckham) as a member of the Liberal-backed Progressive Party. He held the seat until 1898, when he retired from the council. At the 1892 general election Jones stood as Liberal candidate for Peckham, but failed to be elected. He died in June 1916, aged 78, and was buried at Putney Vale Cemetery.
