  • Dallas Theological Seminary (DTS) is a conservative evangelical graduate-level theological seminary located in Dallas, Texas. It has been known for many years as the academic center of Christian dispensationalism. DTS has extension campuses in Atlanta, Austin, Houston, San Antonio, and Tampa and a multi-lingual online education program. DTS was founded by Lewis Sperry Chafer in 1924. Chafer served as president until his death in 1952, whereupon John F. Walvoord replaced Chafer. Walvoord oversaw massive growth of DTS until he retired in 1986, at which time DTS had become one of the largest Protestant seminaries in the world. Donald K. Campbell replaced Walvoord and presided until his resignation in 1994, at which time internationally known host of "Insight for Living" and DTS graduate Chuck Swindoll became president. In 2001 Swindoll was succeeded by current president Mark Bailey. Swindoll now serves as the school's Chancellor.
