  • This page contains lists regarding Japanese supercentenarians, the oldest of whom was Misao Okawa (1898–2015), who died at the age of 117 years, 27 days. The oldest Japanese man ever was Jiroemon Kimura (1897–2013), who died at the age of 116 years, 54 days. Since the death of an anonymous Tokyo woman on 27 September 2015, the oldest person in Japan is Nabi Tajima (born 4 August 1900) of Kagoshima. Note: Japan's koseki registration system was instituted in the 1870s in mainland Japan, spreading to the Ryukyu islands by circa 1890. Japan cases predating the institution of the koseki registration system by more than 20 years should be listed in an addendum and/or longevity claims.
