  • As the bulldozers move in the villagers watch in horror as they realise there’s little they can do to stop the development. However, there is help at hand from an unexpected source. When Eric tells Jarvis to meet him in the church and leaves behind a copy of the parish deeds Jarvis rallies the troops. There’s a nasty surprise in store for the Kings as Jarvis reveals that the cricket pitch is set aside as a recreation ground in perpetuity. Tom is furious that his development work has been halted at the eleventh hour and turns on Jimmy and Matthew for not making sure that the problem of the deeds had been dealt with properly when they were greasing the palm of councillor Leadbetter. As the villagers celebrate in The Woolpack, Tom offers to buy drinks all round but warns the locals that he won’t be stopped. He also makes it clear to Eric that he has worked out how Jarvis came by the deeds and won’t forget it in a hurry. The arrival of Carlos in The Woolpack kitchen spurs Marlon into action. As Carlos takes over the pub kitchen in preparation for Simon’s festival of fish Marlon rushes home and feverishly sets to work cooking up a storm. When he presents Emily with his fish creation he is disappointed that all Emily can find to say about his new dish is that is ‘very nice’.
