As the bulldozers move in the villagers watch in horror as they realise there’s little they can do to stop the development. However, there is help at hand from an unexpected source. When Eric tells Jarvis to meet him in the church and leaves behind a copy of the parish deeds Jarvis rallies the troops. The Kings are determined to press ahead with the work and work is only halted when Jarvis stands in front of a bulldozer. There’s a nasty surprise in store for the Kings as Jarvis reveals that the cricket pitch is set aside as a recreation ground in perpetuity. Tom is furious that his development work has been halted at the eleventh hour and turns on Jimmy and Matthew for not making sure that the problem of the deeds had been dealt with properly when they were greasing the palm of councillor
