These monsters are very dangerous, much more so than their low combat level would suggest. Their attacks are poisonous, hard-hitting, and very accurate, which subsequently makes them more likely to inflict poison. As with all poisonous monsters, protections prayers do not prevent poison from being inflicted. The poison inflicted by these monsters is their biggest threat, starting at an intensity of 285 life points and potentially dealing over 4000 life points damage in total if left untreated. If killing the crabs in the dungeon, and a malpractitioner begins attacking, the player should focus on killing the malpractitioner.
