Image tapes were a type of storage media used to store a series of moving images. The extinct Jerni civilization were believed to have used image tapes. Luke Skywalker recovered image tapes from a derelict spacecraft which, when decoded by the Alliance to Restore the Republic's technicians, contained information on an artifact called the Eternity Crystal which could be used to control the flow of time. However, these tapes were later revealed to be an Imperial forgery.
