Gar is a neologism originating from the imageboard 4chan's "/a/ - Anime & Manga" board which has come to mean roughly "so manly that he makes one feel less of a man". The term originally occurred in 2006 as a typo when one anonymous user commented that he was gar (instead of "gay") for Archer, a character from the visual novel and anime Fate/Stay Night. Since then it has been adopted by many online anime communities in its original and newer form, for example to say that "Archer is GAR", in a similar way the term [moe (slang)|moe]] is used. The term is often written in upper case.
