It is well equipped to handle these tasks thanks to being easily configurable to the demands of the mission. The Vigil-class is one of the largest ships to bear a corvette designation thanks in part to it being lightly armed relative to its size, however it makes up for this with heavy armor and shields. Standard operating procedure for an Imperial Vigil-class Corvette calls for it to act as an escort or patrol craft. Generally they are loaded with a squadron of TIE Interceptors in the underside hangars to supplement the sparse weaponry of the corvette itself. However the racks can also be configured to hold a single Delta-class Transport for assault missions. In order to have room for an entire squadron, the Vigil-class makes some sacrifices. The underside hangars are fairly shallow, so the ship can't field larger starfighter designs like the Assault Gunboat. Additionally, the Vigil-class lacks the space to stock and resupply heavy bombers like the Scimitar Assault Bomber effectively. The ease of reconfiguring the hangars has also resulted in some ships being used for resupply efforts, removing their starfighter escort to hold cargo or to be a homebase for a single Combat Utility Vehicle.
