At the age of five standard years old, Affytechans are capable of locomotion and uproot themselves from their homes and begin to integrate into society. Flowering at the standard age of thirteen, each Affytechan has a unique flowering pattern determined by the genes passed down from their parents. Bipedal, each Affytechan had two arms ending in long, green tentacles which were capable of wrapping around objects and constricting to form a tight grip. Standing upright at about 1.8 meters, Each Affytechan had a single black compound eye amid their blooms. Viewing the world from eight different directions through their compound eye, Affytechan's had no sense of smell and understood sound as vibrations against their skin. Lacking a mouth, Affytechan's communicated telepathically with each other, but had evolved a small air tube at the top of their head. Through this tube, Affytechan's could force air out while constricting the opening to form basic sounds and form words in Basic.
