About: Speed Vault   Sponge Permalink

An Entity of Type : owl:Thing, within Data Space : dbkwik.org associated with source dataset(s)

It is performed by: - Running up to the obstacle. - Pushing off of one foot. - Placing one hand on the obstacle (if you jumped off of your right foot use your right hand and vice versa). - Swinging both legs over the obstacle to one side. - Landing on the ground and continuing running. It can be turned into a safety vault, the most basic vault in parkour, by placing the outside leg on the obstacle as you pass (to maintain height) and then swinging the inside leg through. It can also be turned into a Two-handed vault by placing the outside hand next to the inside hand on the obstacle.

  • a movement where you gain momentum going towards your obstacle, lets say a table, and as you begin the vault you make the initial jump, and depending on which arm you use (only 1 arm) your legs will be in the opposite direction. So, if vaulting over with your left hand/arm, your feet will point to the right, puting your body in a horizontal angle, and vice versa. As your hand touches the obstacle, it restablizes your body back into the position it was before you began the vault, and you continue your momentum in the direction wished. Link is a tutorial video not made by myself.
  • The Speed Vault is used for a quick obstacle jump over that should maintain the speed you used to approach the obstacle. This is probably the simplest Vault out of every vault. A running start is not necessary; you could even do this vault walking. **NOTE** FEET NEVER COME INTO CONTACT WITH THE OBSTACLE AND YOUR ONE HAND STAYS ON IT THROUGH OUT THE ENTIRE VAULT **NOTE**

  • The Speed Vault is used for a quick obstacle jump over that should maintain the speed you used to approach the obstacle. This is probably the simplest Vault out of every vault. A running start is not necessary; you could even do this vault walking. You'll need an obstacle not too high, about waist level, and a running start if you want. Head towards the obstacle and jump when you are a few feet away. as you are in the air, twist your body 45 degrees.(see picture) when you are above the obstacle, place your hand that's closest to it on top and push off. You should land on the same foot you took off with as this allows you to maintain speed. Landing on the opposite takeoff off foot can cause a decrease in speed and make you stagger. **NOTE** FEET NEVER COME INTO CONTACT WITH THE OBSTACLE AND YOUR ONE HAND STAYS ON IT THROUGH OUT THE ENTIRE VAULT **NOTE**

In short, this vault, done correctly, will have next to no effect on your overall speed and movement as you fly over.
