Gary Tooms spent most of his career as a masked midcarder, who would work generic tag matches. In his late thirties, he finally developed a gimmick, "Straight Edge." The older man would wander the crowds, telling the kids about the horrors of drug abuse. Whether it was his obvious drinking problem, or the fact that he was accusing the kids of abusing drugs, it clicked, with Tooms scoring massive heel heat. When the XWA was merged into the BIG CLASH, Tooms was brought along for the ride, teaming with partner "Razor" Rex Porter to form the Kings Among Men. The team was quite hated, and a corner stone of the promotion, in its first year. Sadly, a DUI arrest caused Tooms to miss an important television taping, and put his career on hold.
