Edward Charles Wagenknecht (28 March 1900 – 24 May 2004) was a literary critic and university professor who wrote widely on Amercian literature and popular culture. In 1929 he published a booklet titled Utopia Americana, about L. Frank Baum and his Oz books. Wagenknecht's essay was the first scholarly treatment of Oz fiction.
