Queen Bee Syndrome, coined by G.L. Staines, T.E. Jayaratne, and C. Tavris in 1973, is the notion that women who have achieved power in a misogynistic culture don't necessarily help other women do the same. Stainer et al. ( via Edson) define the true Queen Bee [as having] made it in the "man's world" of work, while running a house and family with her left hand. "If I can do it without a whole movement to help me," runs her attitude, "so can all those other women."
